A friend who gets it

Good friends help you... memeThe approaching anniversary of my chronic illness diagnosis has had me in a funk lately.

It’s brought up a lot for me — ranging everywhere from relief and hope to anger and grief. I’d like to tell you I’ve come so far. And in some ways, I have. I understand my disease better now, but I’ve still got more to learn. I’ve got more recovering to do as well. Physically, I struggle now more than a year ago.

invisible illness meme“When you have an invisible illness, it’s hard to explain to someone who doesn’t have a clue. It’s a daily struggle being in pain or feeling sick on the inside, when you look fine on the outside.”

These last few days, as my “anniversary” date approaches, I’ve been overwhelmed with the rollercoaster of feelings and so I reached out to my B12 buddy, Laura. She has faced some of these same battles, and she was so understanding and supportive. She helped me to feel less alone and to find hope for a future — and that is today’s #OneGoodThing!

Day 35 of 365.
