Fixing our freezer

Our freezer — Before (top) and After (below)

Our freezer has been on the fritz after refusing to make ice during a severe heat wave several weeks ago.

I’ve made several efforts to clean it out and get it working again, but it kept filling up with frost and ice chips. After consulting with our last fridge repair guy, I learned that the culprit was likely built-up ice preventing the freezer door from getting a good seal.

So today, Mama and I cleaned out all of the frost, ice chips and remaining freezer contents. We let the whole thing defrost and did a thorough cleaning. It was exhausting, but we were pleasantly surprised by how quickly the freezer got cold again. Fingers crossed it all continues to work and it starts making ice cubes again — but not frost!

Today’s #OneGoodThing was fixing our freezer ourselves!
